Best Robot Vacuum for Allergies: Review & Buying Guide
In this article, we’ll share the best robotic vacuum cleaners for allergies in 2020. Luckily for us, there are only a handful of companies that make robotic vacuums (including iRobot Roomba and SharkNinja). We’ll also discuss what features to look for when choosing a robotic vacuum cleaner for allergies.
A few years ago, I was diagnosed with a severe environmental allergy. My allergies negatively affect my physical, emotional and social life. Since then, I have read and written about ways to relieve allergy symptoms and created this blog to share what I learned.
I have tried different products against dust mites, pollens and animal allergies. Hope the information I provide will put you on the right path to getting the best robot vacuum for allergies. Most importantly, I hope you will be relieved and improve your allergy symptoms!
Best Robot Vacuum For Allergies (Pet and Dust Mites)
My experience of vacuuming with allergies
My family had a lot of aspirations growing up. We have carpeted it and they tend to collect and pick up more dust than hardwood floors. I am responsible for dusting and vacuuming my room every week. I usually relax and vacuum every two weeks.
I never want to vacuum but after that I feel better that my room is clean and dust free. I took a deep breath and thought I was breathing some fresh air.
Strangely enough, I’m still itchy and my nose is stuffy after vacuuming. I don’t understand this because I feel my room is cleaner and I can see all the hair and dirt the vacuum has picked up. I have written about many of the symptoms I have such as snoring, eczema, persistent cough and watery eyes. Many others suffer from asthma.
What I don’t see are the tiny particles of dust that my vacuum cleaner blows into the air. These dust particles, including dust mites and pet hair, are so small that only certain types of vacuum cleaners (HEPA) can filter them.
I don’t know any better, so just keep cleaning with our old vacuum and it doesn’t do any good. It wasn’t until many years later that it all made sense. The vacuum cleaner I use captures large particles like dirt and hair, but not microscopic particles like common allergens.
In recent years, I have used a HEPA vacuum to filter out the smallest irritants in my home. The most popular HEPA vacuum is the upright vacuum, but there is also the allergy robot vacuum for easy cleaning!
Advantages of the robot vacuum cleaner for allergies
There are many advantages to using a robot vacuum. I’m sure you can create them yourself, but I’ll tell you why I use bots.
Ideal for animal hair
Good for people with dust mite allergies
Remote control is possible via a phone app
Fun for children
Don’t miss areas (clean evenly throughout the house)
The cost is almost the same as the quality of vertical vacuum
Small and lightweight compared to traditional vacuum cleaners
Ideal for hard floors
Its technology is very interesting to observe
As you can see from my list, there are many reasons to use robotic vacuum cleaners for allergies. They are the most convenient way to clean your floors because it takes less effort.
Robotic does a great job against dirt and small debris like pet hair and lint. They vacuum, and the best robot vacuum with hepa filter which captures allergens like dust mites and pet hair.
I really like that they can be turned on and off using the phone app. If you are at work and want the robot to work, just turn on your phone. Vac robots will not go through the same place as many times as humans because they map the house and remember where they were.
Allergy robotic vacuums work efficiently in small areas under the bed and can be stored much easier than their upright vacuums. If you’re worried about the price, they’re not much different from the traditional quality vacuum cleaner and the fact that it cleans without you means you can spend some time working while cleaning (think opportunity cost).
The robot vacuum works best on hard floors where it won’t get stuck. Families love to watch them work and animals love them!
Not as complete as the bigger vacuum cleaner
Small dirt capacity (often empty bags)
Using rechargeable batteries may wear out over time
Vacuums can be damaged more easily than traditional vacuum cleaners
The HEPA filter is a little less complete
Less energy than traditional vacuum cleaners
The dog may not like it or play with it
Sometimes there was a problem when cleaning the corners
Less thorough cleaning of carpets
There are also some downsides to robot vacuums for allergies. Due to their small size, robotic vacuums are not as powerful and cannot clean as deeply as many traditional vacuums.
Since the device is smaller, there should be less memory available for debris and it will need to be changed frequently. The rechargeable battery is included with the vacuum cleaner, but over time the battery loses power and its operating time can be significantly reduced.
Its size is perfect for hard-to-reach places, but it’s harder to see and if stepped on it can get damaged – this is also true for dogs who want to play with it.
Most robot vacuums use HEPA type filters. Since they don’t use the True HEPA filter, it may be a little less effective for sensitive people.
Everyone knows that the circular shape of robotic vacuums makes it difficult to turn and that these vacuums often have less powerful motors than upright and rectangular vacuums.
Best Robotic Vacuum Cleaner Brands For Allergies
While there are many reputable brands for vertical and traditional box pumps, there are relatively few brands for robot vacuums. Even less can be helpful for people with allergies.
Below, we’ll share a few brands to watch out for – the best robot vacuum cleaner brands should be considered before looking at exotic brands or knockoffs. Well-known brands often sell at discounted prices because you get a proven product with a great warranty and great customer service.
If you haven’t heard of the iRobot Roomba vacuuming, you must be living under a rock. The Roomba is America’s most famous robot vacuum, and models have been updated over the years.
In 1990, two M.I.T. graduate student founded the iRobot company. Their first robots focused on disaster response and assisting military expeditions and were even used by NASA. Needless to say, the company has a solid foundation and strong leadership.
By the year 2000, the business had become commercial use. The concept of the robotic vacuum cleaner was revolutionary and quickly gained the attention of homeowners across the country. Since the early 2000s, iRobot has become a common sight in American homes. Currently, most of the iRobots in use are Wi-Fi enabled and can be used remotely through mobile apps. iRobot is on the rise and if you want the best then look no further.

No matter the funny name, SharkNinja has been around for a while, and its vacuum cleaners have quickly gained market share in the United States. You might have seen informational ads or specials on TV, but make no mistake, people love this brand.
They were originally based in Montreal, Canada, but now operate just outside of Boston, Massachusetts.
SharkNinja has established itself in the most popular vacuum cleaner market, but has recently expanded into robotic vacuum cleaners. The SharkNinja brand can’t be against iRobot technology, but they do offer good vacuum cleaners at a more affordable price. Consider SharkNinja a suitable choice for anti-allergic robot vacuums.
While we’ve listed a few other options in the reviews below, I’d still love to use iRobot or SharkNinja. Choose one of these brands and you will receive quality products with good customer service.

The Roomba 890 has many of the same features as its big brother, the 980, but it doesn’t have strong suction power and runs a bit less time.

The 980 and 890 both use very efficient filters so that the majority of allergens are captured. iRobot mentioned that it can select 99% of allergens that are 10 microns or larger. For people with severe allergies to dogs and cats, this will not be enough as the shaving readings of pets are between 2.5 and 10 microns. The filter will be effective against dust mite and pollen allergies.

5. ILIFE V3s Pro robotic vacuum cleaner
My Life is another fun vacuum that’s perfect for cleaning kitchen floors and high traffic areas indoors. If you’ve never used a robot vacuum before, the ILIFE is a great starter vacuum and will keep your pet entertained for hours.
This ILIFE vacuum cleaner is specially designed for animal hair and the main allergens. It is recommended for use on hard floors and low carpets. It uses a programmable remote control so you can program it to turn on while you work.
Its smart sensors prevent it from getting stuck or hitting hard objects. This vacuum is best suited for hardwood floors and measures 11.8 x 11.8 x 3 inches.

Similar to our last vacuum extraction, the ILIFE tends to drain the battery quickly over time. If you’re looking for something that can clean for years, Roomba or SharkNinja is your best bet, but if you want a more affordable ILIFE short-term vacuum that will do just fine.
6. ECOVACS Deebot N79S Robot Vacuum
Ecovacs produces smart and technologically advanced vacuum cleaners to compete with our popular vacuum cleaners. As our top rated allergy-rated robot vacuum, the DeeBot N79S can be used with an Alexa voice command (Alexa cleans the house!).
Using an app, homeowners can schedule a cleaning and turn on the vacuum remotely from their desks on weekdays (useful if you don’t have a scheduled schedule or forget to leave home. switch on the vacuum cleaner when leaving).
Similar to other robot vacuums, the Ecovacs use a 1.7 hour lithium-ion battery and are capable of sucking up most debris on the ground. Its 1000pa suction power is a bit lower than the others on our list (compared to almost double Roomba’s 1700pa).

The Ecovac Deeboot N79S vacuum cleaner is another good choice for budget buyers!
7. Pure PUCRC90 robotic vacuum cleaner with HEPA filter
Another economical option for easy cleaning is the Pure Clean robotic vacuum. I would like to include it as an option, but I would also suggest comparing it to Roomba and SharkNinja vacuuming (Roomba has more affordable models as well).
Pure Clean works well for hard floors and I really like the HEPA filter for allergy sufferers. It will work well for animal hair as well as dust mites and pollen.
It doesn’t have an app for your phone, but it does have a handy remote that can be set for a specific time. It also comes with sensors to prevent falling down stairs and other light fixtures.

It is important to know that robotic drum pins will not provide as thorough cleaning as their vertical and square parts. Their advantage comes from the fact that they work independently without too much effort on the part of the owner.
In addition to attractive technology, the robot vacuum can become a fun place to chat with neighbors and family as well as entertain your pets around the house (we’ve all seen cats rolling around on Roomba).
As someone who has struggled with allergies and had a bad vacuuming experience (still nauseous), I pay close attention to the brand and filter I buy. I really like Dyson upright vacuums, and I like iRobot Roomba vacuums because of their superior quality.
